Some crops, like massive fields of grain, are harvested mechanically with combines.

A lot of fruits and vegetables, like these cantaloupes, are still harvested by hand.

Some, like $4000 Japanese mangos, are harvested gingerly and laid on velvet pillows.

Others, like nuts, are literally shaken out of the trees into nets.

Likewise, there are lots of ways to harvest sales. Some are low touch, some are high.

I commonly see problems around sales in two fashions.

One is when people try to automate sales of services that require big investments, a lot of trusts, and special handling. They’re trying to mechanically harvest melons.

The other is when folks try to do one-on-one sales of low-value items. Hand harvesting a 1000-acre wheat field is not going to work out.

To be sustainable, you have to understand what you’re cultivating and match your sales process accordingly.
